The significance of Babel

Etymologically, Babel means confusion, disorder; but, what is the spiritual meaning of Babel? What did our Celestial Father wish to teach us with this passage 11:1-9 of Genesis?

Why does our Father today speaks to us in His teaching of the new Babel constructed by man in this third era? We know that our Father, due to the lack of elevation of mankind. has always spoken to us with allegories and symbolism so that through that which is material we can understand the spiritual, that is, the essence of the divine message.

"Now the whole earth had one language and one speech.

And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there. Then they said one another, "Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly". They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar.

And they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth".

But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. and the Lord said, "Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them".

"Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech". So the Lord scattered them aboard from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city.

Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth".

In the beginning of time of humanity, all men seemed alike, spoke the same language and believed in one same God; but again, seduced by their pursuit of greatness and wanting to be like their creator, began to construct that tower of Babel, symbol of the pride that led them to want to be above everything else.

The use of brick baked in fire instead of rock, and asphalt instead of mortar tells us in this passage of a weak construction, made with materials of low quality, which symbolizes that the monument in honor of pride was not constructed over firm foundations, being destined to crumble at any moment.

God contemplated man’s work and making use of his Divine wisdom, allowed them to suffer the consequences of their weakness, their materialism and the bad use of their free will; which had as a consequence the loss of humility and charity, the great confusion that men live up to this date divided in different languages, people, races, religions, etc.

Even after so many centuries the weak lives under the yoke of the strong, the humble under the arrogance of the powerful, the poor under the indifference of the rich, and all of them, under the pride of those that call themselves scientific, using their human knowledge as arms of wisdom, rise as if Gods to control the future of their peers.

But all this, as it has been prophesized by our Father and His angels and will have its end in the hands of those who constructed it.

"The science of man is an imitation of the tower of Babel; do you remember that lesson? The higher the human pride reaches, closer will he be to confusion and destruction of his false greatness".

"If you see distinctions amongst you, if you speak different languages, and if you have different tones in the skin, remember that the tower of Babel was constructed by you".

"A new Babel was risen by men, a new tower of pride and vanity. From its altitude they challenge My power and humiliate men. In truth I tell you that via that road man will not come to Me, not because I do not recognize science, since it is light that I, the Creator, have placed in the human mind, but because of the ill use that men have given to it".

We can’t blame our Father for the bad times that our planet is going through, because He has not created chaos, He did not construct the Babel of the bad sciences, of the bad governors and the bad guides; and it will have to be man, its creator, that destroys that work of ignorance and pride to erect in the bottom of his being a tower of redemption constructed with repent, humility, with works of love towards his brethren, with elevation and spiritual wisdom.

"The tower of Babel that men have constructed has been destroyed, but in the hearts of the people and races that tower of pride has continued to grow. Only a spiritual whirlwind can knock it down, and that tempest starts to shiver its foundation and walls; but when that tower is destroyed, there, in its place, another will be erected, that which will not be able to be destroyed because its sound foundations will not be of disunity, but of fraternity and harmony".

"In this manner you shall start to construct the true tower of Israel, that which will unify all men spiritually in that Divine Law, changeless, and eternal which you got to know in the world in the lips of Jesus, when He told you: "Love one another"

The current formed by all elevated prayer, by all acts of love and humility, by good thoughts, by regeneration and spirituality, will be the waters, that united to the Divine love, will knock on the foundations of the new Babel so that no stone over stone remains of pride and inequity. No one is lost because to our Father we are all important, we are all worthy of being rescued; even those which have astonished us because of their lack of love and spirituality, because confused or not, we are all His beloved children and His Divine essence is present in all.
