Fighting Suicide

The False Door

That's how some call it. Others view it as an inalienable right for a person. Even the theme song from Mash -both the movie and the TV series- is called "Suicide is Painful".

But is it?

The Gift of Life Spirit and Body
THE ANTIDOTE
It seems that taking one's life is something simple, and it looks like a good option for those whose suffering is something just unbearable.

Problem is: it's irreversible. Once committed, suicide can't be undone or erased.

And there is another problem: Nobody can give you back your life once you've decided and proceeded to cut it short... nobody but God, that is.

But when you just threw away the life He already had given you and thus, with that act you undervalued and despised the gift He granted you, do you really think He will give you that same life back if you did not appreciate it in the first place?

Think.

Although suicide could look, at first glance, as a solution for "irremediable" problems and ordeals, in fact it is not.

The human person is something far more than a body and a human life, for there is also spiritual life within a man or a woman, young or old.

And that essence does not go away with death, it just prevails. And the pain and suffering that could cause the suicidal to consider suicide as an option, remain also, they do not dissapear with self inflicted death.

Imagine the remorse and repentment someone that committed suicide goes through, once out of her or his human life and body, when coming to realize that the pain and the suffering are still there, as powerful as always, only now, increased by the notion of a wasted opportunity to overcome the ordeals and trials of the spirit. There is no way out in that terrible moment. Do you think that he or she could then resort to suicide again?

And paraphrasing that famous ad line: "A life is the most terrible thing to waste".
